Professional Hawaii moving company Royal Hawaiian Movers expanded their support of the Hawaiian community by supporting the Bishop Museum’s 13^thBernice Pauahi Bishop Awards Dinner.  This was the first year that Hawaiian moving company Royal Hawaiian Movers has supported this event, and we are already looking forward to next year!

This annual celebration has become one of Hawaii’s signature events, featuring live performances, awards presentations, and cuisine prepared by some of Hawaii’s most prominent chefs.  This year’s event took place on Saturday, July 30^th, and was held on the Great Lawn of the Bishop Museum (seen above).  The event honored two important leaders in the Hawaiian community with the Charles Reed Bishop Medal and the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum Medals.  This year’s honorees were as follows:

  Trustee of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs

If you are unfamiliar with the Bishop Museum, GET FAMILIAR!!  For over a century, the Bishop Museum has fought to preserve the cultural and natural histories of Hawaii and the Pacific.  Successfully combining education, history, and culture, this museum strives to fulfill the mission that was set forth by its founding father, Charles Reed Bishop, in 1889:  “to study, preserve and tell the stories of the cultures and natural history of Hawai’i and the Pacific”.

Founded in memory of his beloved wife, Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, the Bishop Museum was originally designed to both preserve Hawaiian artifacts, and house the extensive collection of royal family heirlooms of Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop.  Today, this museum attracts nearly 400,000 visitors annually, and has expanded to include millions of artifacts, photographs, and documents about Hawaii and other Pacific cultures.

Did you know that Hawaii is the ONLY U.S. state that was once a kingdom with its own monarchy??  It’s true!  What’s more, the only real royal palaces in the United States are in Hawaii!
