How many climate zones will you find on the Big Island? Some sources say eight. Other say ten, eleven, twelve—or even thirteen. While no one seems to agree on the exact number, one thing is clear: The Big Island is an incredibly diverse place. You’ll find a wide variety of climates, lifestyles, neighborhoods, and landscapes on the island.

So when you’re doing a Big Island move, it pays to work with someone who knows the island inside and out. You need a mover who’s familiar with all of the different areas of the island and the unique moving challenges that come with each. On the Hilo (windward) side of the Big Island, these include things like:

  • Narrow streets and roads, which can prevent access or limit parking
  • Steep roads and driveways that can be difficult to negotiate with larger equipment
  • Low-hanging wires that can restrict access in particular areas
  • Missing or difficult-to-see street signage and mile markers
  • Growing traffic and congestion, especially in and around Hilo town

Plus, we get our share of rain on the windward side of the Big Island. Luckily, our crews are used to driving in all kinds of weather—wind and precipitation included.

We’ve had offices in Kailua-Kona and Hilo since 2001. In all that time, we’ve managed these issues—and plenty more—to deliver safe, easy, and affordable Big Island moves in and around Hilo (and beyond!)

Hilo Moves

Hilo is, by far, the biggest population center on the Big Island. It’s also the third-most populated area in the Hawaiian Islands, after Urban and East Honolulu. Some also consider Hilo the cultural capital of the Big Island. Living in Hilo offers residents a diverse range of housing types, including both condos and single-family homes, as well as access to a number of conveniences and amenities, including the Hilo International Airport.

In and around Hilo town, relocations can be pretty straightforward, although parking can be a challenge along busier roads. As you get farther from Hilo town center, roads do get narrower, but they’re nothing our crews haven’t navigated before. Our experts will make your Hilo move easy.

Hawaiian Paradise Park Moves

With almost 15,000 residents, Hawaiian Paradise Park is the second major hub of activity on the windward side of the Big Island. There are still plenty of undeveloped pieces of property in this planned community, and residents love its rural feel. The paved roads in the neighborhood, maintained by the Hawaiian Paradise Park Owners Association, are fairly easy for our crews to navigate. However, if you live down one of the unpaved roads in Hawaiian Paradise Park—or your driveway won’t accommodate larger equipment—just let our team know. We can easily create a solution for a safe and stress-free move.

Mountain View Moves

Peaceful living, cool breezes, and green landscapes dominate in the quiet community of Mountain View. You’ll find a broad range of home types in Mountain View—and a broad range of roads in the area. Whether you live on a two-lane paved road or one-lane gravel road, our teams can assist with your move. No move is too remote or challenging for our crews.

Hawaiian Beaches Moves

Lush, quiet streets and easy access to the shoreline make the Hawaiian Beaches neighborhood particularly special. In the residential areas of Hawaiian Beaches, the roads can get a bit narrow—and we may choose to use smaller trucks and/or vans if space is tight around your house. In cases like these, we’ll ferry your items with care to a staging area for loading onto a larger truck. No matter what approach we use, we’ll make your Hawaiian Beaches move safe, easy, and affordable.

Āinaloa Moves

Āinaloa is a very small, tight-knit community that’s increasingly popular with new homebuyers. The subdivision also features a community center and playground that’s available to all residents—another big plus. You’ll see a variety of roads in the Āinaloa area—paved, gravel, and dirt. However, the Āinaloa HOA is actively updating roads from gravel to paved, which can mean pretty consistent street work in the area. Our experienced crews know how to navigate these roads—and any construction work—with care so your belongings stay safe from pickup through delivery.

Hawaiian Acres Moves

Hawaiian Acres offers its residents plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the tranquil, tree-lined landscape. Within the Hawaiian Acres subdivision, only about 10 of the 72 miles of roadways are paved. We’ve moved clients along all kinds of roads within Hawaiian Acres, and our crews can make your upcoming move easy. When you schedule your move, we’ll get all the details on your current residence and put together a plan tailored just for you.

Orchidland Estates Moves

In Orchidland Estates, you’ll find paved, gravel, and dirt roads lined with ferns, trees, and other vegetation—plus agricultural lands interspersed between residential properties. With frequent rain in the area, navigating Orchidland Estates can become a bit of a challenge, but our expert crews are more than up for it! When you reach out for a quote, we’ll get your exact location and assemble a plan to make your move simple.

Kurtistown Moves

In Kurtistown, many families have found their own slice of rural paradise. Even though Kurtistown is only about 20 minutes from Hilo, many homes sit on large, multi-acre lots, giving them a more secluded feel. We’ve done plenty of moves in Kurtistown—and beyond. Whether you’re moving out of a smaller dwelling or a large, multi-bedroom house, we can handle Kurtistown moves of all sizes.

Fern Acres Moves

Nestled within a verdant rainforest in the Puna District, Fern Acres offers quiet living on private, two-acre lots. Although the Fern Acres Community Association is at work on widening shoulders, improving drainage, and clearing trees and vegetation that may restrict access in some places, road quality and access still varies from property to property. When you reach out for a quote, we’ll walk you through a few questions to determine the best plan for accessing your home easily—and safely.

Hāmākua Moves

When You’re Relocating Beyond Hilo

With two locations on the Big Island, we’ve got the ability to execute moves anywhere on the Big Island, including relocations to places like Honokaa in the Hāmākua District.

Hāmākua Coast is home to many of the island’s most beautiful coastal views—and a site of frequent construction to upgrade the island’s transportation infrastructure. Narrow, one-lane bridges and sharp turns like ʻĀhualoa into Māmalahoa Highway. Also for example, Hawaii Belt Road can make for challenging navigation, especially in larger vehicles.

Whether you live close to Honokaa town or in a more remote part of the Hāmākua District, we can accommodate you. We can help you relocate anywhere on the Big Island, anywhere in Hawaii, or anywhere in the world.
